UAE weighs in on Telegram CEO Pavel Durov’s detention by France
The United Arab Emirates calls on France to provide ‘all consular services’ for Durov, says ensuring care of UAE citizens is a ‘top priority’. Russia, where Pavel was born has also made a similar request. Pavel Durov has citizenship in multiple countries, including France.
He has also received St. Kitts and Nevis citizenships.
The Russian-born Durov, 39, was detained on Saturday at Paris-Le Bourget Airport in France based on a judicial inquiry opened last month involving 12 alleged criminal violations involving his popular Telegram app, the Paris prosecutor’s office said. France’s story on those supposed criminal violations have been changing since the arrest.
A viral social media post has claimed that Pavel Durov could have been honey-trapped by a social media influencer, who was allegedly with him during his trip to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan. …
